Our Partnerships in Action
How we work.
We are supported by our generous Funding Partners; Nau Mai Rā, Transpower and the Tindall Foundation, who are passionate about ensuring every whānau doesn’t have to choose between their basic needs or keeping the lights on.
We work with a range of community based organisations to deliver essential support to whānau, with a focus on Financial Relief, Healthy Homes, Power Literacy and Budgeting Advice.
Support is provided in the form of Grants that enable Community Organisations to do more of what they do best.
The Whānau Fund Trust work with organisations where there is an alignment in values, purpose and service delivery.
Nau Mai Rā
Nau Mai Rā is the first kaupapa Māori power company in Aotearoa, focused on tackling energy hardship through providing electricity to those that need it the most.
Nau Mai Rā founded The Whānau Fund Trust with a mission to support whānau who are struggling with their electricity bills.
Through their pay-it-forward model customers are able to support 1000's of vulnerable consumers to keep their lights on and their whānau warm.
Kindness Collective - Maanaki Ora
We partnered with Nau Mai Rā and The Kindness Collective to launch a first-of-its-kind programme to help whānau stay warm, and well over winter with Manaaki Ora.
Together with The Warehouse, Tend Health, Kootuitui and Bargain Box, whānau in South Auckland were provided with subsidised electricity bills, healthcare, food and winter warmth essentials from PJs to blankets and heaters.
Transpower
Transpower provide the infrastructure and market systems that connects electricity generators to major electricity users and distribution networks that deliver electricity to homes and businesses around the country (we don't own, generate or sell electricity). In short, they ensure that electricity gets to where it is needed through the National Grid.
Transpower is a key funding partner for The Whānau Fund Trust which enables us to support more whānau to achieve energy wellbeing. These funds are used to support community based programmes with a focus on improving overall wellbeing, whānau having greater confidence in power literacy as well as access education and tools to help create warmer, healthier and drier homes.
Vinnies Hamilton
Vinnies Hamilton provide a range of services to support whānau living in the Hamilton area.
Through our partnership Vinnies are working with whānau to achieve a healthier and drier home and experience a reduction in their electricity bill.
This is achieved through the Healthy Homes Programme, Led Light Initiative, Budgeting Support, Food Assistance and Curtain Bank.
Energy Mate
EnergyMate supports whānau with targeted support through in-home visits and community hui in select locations in Aotearoa.
An EnergyMate coach does a check of the home, including heating, lighting, hot water, and appliances to find ways the whānau can save on power, as well as help the whānau build an action plan of the things they can do to save power and keep their home warm.
EnergyMate are supporting whānau in West Auckland, South Auckland, Rotorua, Whakatāne, Taupō, Hastings/Napier, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin.
